Cleft Palate Produced in Mice by Human-Equivalent Dosage with Triamcinolone.

چکیده

Triamcinolone produced cleft palates in mouse embryos at a dosage proportionate, by body weight, to common therapeutic dosage for humans. Thus, it showed much greater teratogenicity than other glucocorticoids tested on mice. Widely ranging doses of desoxycorticosterone did not produce cleft palates.

Cleft palate induction in hamster fetuses by glucocorticoid hormones and their synthetic analogues.

The effect of prenatal administration of different doses of cortisone, corticosterone, dexamethasone, triamcinolone and prednisolone on the fetus and its palatal development was studied. All the glucocorticoids, except cortisone, produced cleft palate in the fetuses. Both the total frequency and morphologically different types of cleft palate were related to the dose of the teratogen. Triamcino...

Reconstruction of Drug-induced Cleft Palate Using Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cell in Rodents

BACKGROUND Triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) (Kenacort*) is a commonly used synthetic glucocorticoid in today's medical practice. The drug is also a potential agent in inducing cleft palates in rats. This drug has been used to induce cleft palate in the fetus of the pregnant rats to bring out a suitable animal model for human cleft lip and palate. The drug was given intraperitoneally to induce cong...

Glucocorticoid inhibition of RNA synthesis responsible for cleft palate in mice: a model.

A study was undertaken to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which glucocorticoids induce cleft palate in mice. It was hypothesized that a compound such as triamcinolone acetonide inhibits mRNA synthesis; that this results later in depressed protein synthesis; and that the latter is ultimately responsible for slowed palate formation and cleft palate. Support for the model derives from the fa...

Cleft Palate induced by Sulfur Mustard in mice fetus

Sulfur Mustard (SM) is a chemical warfare agent which was widely used in the World War I and more recently during Gulf war in the early 1980s'. SM is a strong alkylating agent with known mutagenic and carcinogenic effects but only few studies have been published on its teratogenicity. Since SM has been widely used as a chemical weapon by the Iraqi regime against the Iranian soldiers as well as ...

Histopathological findings of cleft palate in rat embryos induced by triamcinolone acetonide.

Triamcinolone acetonide (TAC), a synthetic glucocorticoid, induces cleft palate resulting from poor development of palatal shelves in mice. However, TAC has no effect on medial edge epithelial cells (MEE cells) in secondary palatal shelves. In the present study, we examined the relationship between the pathogenesis of cleft palate and the effects on MEE cells and palatal mesenchymal cells in ra...
